The objective of the research is to find out the effect of learning technique and cognitive style on the English speaking skill. The research was conducted and took subject of Academic Listening Speaking. The technique used in the research was experimental technique by using a factorial design 2 × 2. The research findings were : (1) The English speaking skill of the group the students who learnt with a jigsaw learning technique was higher than those who learnt with a think pair share learning technique, (2) The English speaking skill of the group of students who had field independent cognitive style was higher than those who had fielddependent cognitive style, (3) There was an interaction effect between learning techniques and cognitive styles on the English speaking skill, (4) The English speaking skill of the students who learnt with a jigsaw learning technique was higher than those who learnt with a think pair share technique, for the group who had field – independent cognitive style, (5) The English speaking skill of the students who learnt with a jigsaw intructional technique was lower than those who learnt with a think pair share technique, for the group who had field – dependent cognitive style, (6) The English speaking skill of students who had field independent cognitive style was higher than those who had field dependent cognitive style, for the group who learnt with a jigsaw learning technique,(7) The English speaking skill of students who had field independent cognitive style was lower than those who had field dependent cognitive style, for the group who learnt with a think pair share learning technique.References
