Abstract

This study aimed at determining the level of mathematical-logical intelligence of the fifth-grade students through a constructivist approach to the material of mixed-count operations. This research uses a mixed method, namely quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative method was carried out using the Pre-Experimental Design referring to the One Group Pretest-Posttes Design. The sample of this study was 100 students. The sampling technique used was the Quota Sample. Data were analyzed through the frequency distribution test, and normality test using liliefors. It was obtained Lvalue 0.0624 for the questionnaire test, and Lvalue 0.0554 for the instrument testing with Ltable 0.0886 at α = 0.05; then the Lvalue ≤ Ltable. Thus H0 was accepted since it was normally distributed. In testing the distribution frequency, the lowest score on the pretest and posttest was 20, the highest score 100. The mean of pretest was 47.8, while the mean of posttest was 62. The conclusion of the study was that there were significant differences in the level of students' mathematical-logical intelligence before and after the implementation of the constructivism approach to the material of mixed count operations.
