Abstract

Writing scientific paper must be done by students at the end of study as a requirement to get a scholar degree in the university. However, many students tend to postpone their writing paper because they thought that they had much time to make plans or preparations; they liked delaying assignments or not doing assignments at all. This study aimed at determining the relationship between self-growth initiatives and active procrastination to students who are writing scientific paper. Respondents in this study were students who were completing a thesis totaling 120 people consisting of 18 men and 102 women. This research is a quantitative study using a Likert scale model. This study used a measuring tool Active Procrastination Scale (APS) and Personal Growth Initiative Scale-II (PGIS-II). The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between the variables of personal growth initiative with active procrastination variables with a Pearson correlation of 0.296 and a probability value at the level of 0.001 (p <0.01). Thus, the hypothesis in this study can be accepted. This showed that the higher the personal growth initiative, the more students tended to engage in active procrastination.
