In 1920s era, United States America (USA) reach their prosperity. Unfortunately, in 1929they experienced financial crisis which is caused by the fall of stock prices on Wall Street.
The crisis resulted in the Great Depression. This research is aimed to find out the causes of
the great depression and its impact on people in the USA. The research uses thehistorical
method with four stages, namely heuristic, verification, interpretation, and historiography.
Moreover, the research also uses literature review. The result of theresearch shows that
great depression is the hottest depression in the USA. The depression not only influences to
economic condition, but also politic, social, and culture. The prominent impact is it replaces
the doctrine of laissez-faire (liberalism doctrine) that colouring system of United States
economy with neoliberalism doctrine. Â
